Major League Baseball Tickets – Feeling the Buzz

Once again Major League Baseball has captured the attention of the sporting public. As the ML tickets hit the market, fans are gearing up for what may be a return to the heady days of old, where the New York Yankees sit atop the league and others can only contend. But don’t count out the newest generation of baseball fans, one unhindered by the Yankee mystique, and just as likely to be enamored of the Philadelphia Phillies or jammed into high gear by the newest edition of the Minnesota Twins and a sparkling new venue. And just as hope springs eternal, so do the hopes of Colorado Rockies fans, fresh off a promising season and banking on contending in the National League with the likes of  the Cardinals and the Braves as the next contenders to knock the reigning champs off of their perch.

American League Mayhem – Can the Yankees Wreak Havoc Again?

Being America’s most loved and most hated team all at the same time can’t be easy for the New York Yankees. They just make it look easy. And no matter what camp you’re in you can’t turn your head away from 27 World Series wins. But winning a World Series and defending a World Series are two different things. Are the Yankees solid enough to repeat? That simply goes without saying. The 2014 New York Yankees are built to do just that.

Most clubs wouldn’t rebuild a World Series winner. But this is the Yankees. New York said goodbye to stalwarts like Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui, and hello to new outfielder Curtis Granderson and hello again to designated DH Nick Johnson. Sadly for the rest of the AL, the key chemistry made up of Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, C.C Sabathia and other familiar names has been kept intact. Repeating as World Series winners won’t fall into their laps but these Yankees will be there in the end.

But don’t count out the rest of the pack. The Boston Red Sox will lean heavily on a pitching rotation any team would envy. Josh Becket and Jon Lester will be mainstays once again, and Daisuke Matsuzuka is expected to recover from his ills of 2009. Throw in John Lackey as the new guy and Clay Buchholz as the young whiz and Boston looks deep enough to give the Yankees fits again. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Twins are making noise in the AL Central with a new winning persona and a new venue in Target Field. The Twins made believers out of baseball fans with a strong push at the end of last season. Built on a foundation of catcher Joe Mauer and infielder Justin Morneau, Minnesota is adding momentum with a young pitching rotation that could catch some teams by surprise.

National League War – Will the Phillies Reign?

Over in the National League the feeling is that it’s just a matter of time before these Philadelphia Phillies bring home a World Series win. But that doesn’t mean they can’t get better. Phillies management hasn’t been afraid to take a chance on talent. Not content to sit pat, the Phillies traded their way into the books with the acquisition of right hander Roy Halladay, a Cy Young winner, and Phillippe Aumont, another righty with staying power. Given that the basis of pitching is signed, sealed, and delivered for the next few years, there Philadelphia Phillies will be in the running for a World Series for the next few years.

Lurking behind the scenes though, is a St. Louis Cardinals team with a clear edge in the NL central. Waylaid by injury in 2009, a healthy Cardinals could do real damage.. Returning with Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainright on the mound, backed up by the steady bat of Albert Pujols, and the closing power of Ryan Franklin, means St. Louis could be a disruption to the Phillies plans. Then there’s the Rockies, a team returning a roster that gained valuable post-season experience. Sporting one of the best farm systems in the MLB, the Colorado Rockies are betting the home farm that pitching will carry them in 2014. Ubaldo Jiminez posted career numbers last season, while Jorge De La Rosa showed signs of maturing by going 16-9 to finish the season.

mlb baseball
MLB tickets in the National League offer perhaps even more intrigue. The Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, and Atlanta Braves finished in a tight race in the East but in the Major League Baseball season expect the Phillies and Mets to make it a two team race. Looking to the Central, the Chicago Cubs will be looking for their first World Series appearance in eons. They’ll also sell baseball tickets like crazy. All those Cubbies fans know a good thing when they see it. The Milwaukee Brewers will have a say in the matter though, as pundits are looking for Milwaukee to hit the MLB Playoffs for the first time since 1992. Finally, the West will be watching the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies to once again run neck and neck. Both won 90 games last season, only a hair ahead of the San Diego Padres.
